08:00 - 08:30 - Take Line A from Termini towards Batitstini to Ottaviano St. Pietro (6th station) and walk 300m to the Vatican Museums Entrance on the N side of the Vatican. Redeem tickets (E$14, entry 9am-4pm and close at 6pm). Use the express line if you pre-booked (recommended).
08:30 - 13:00 - Queue and enter the Vatican Museums (LP142). See Sistine Chapel (LP145).
13:00 - 14:00 - Lunch at Vatican Museum Cafeteria.
14:00 - 15:30 - Continue inside the Vatican Museum.
15:30 - 17:00 - Exit the museum and walk W along the outside of the Vatican to reach St. Peter’s Basilica (LP137, mass at 8:30AM, 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, & 5PM), Vatican Grottoes(free admission 9am-5pm) (LP142), Piazza San Pietro (LP142).
17:00 – 18:45 - Exit Vatican via Piazza San Pietro, then Piazza Pio XII and walk 300m E for Castel Sant’Angelo (LP146, close at 19:00 and Monday, admission $E5 without concession). [closed on the day we were there]
18:45 - 19:00 - Exit and walk S along Ponte Sant’ Angelo (bridge).
19:00 - 20:30 - Walk back to W of Castel Sant’Angelo to Piazza Pia to take Bus 40 back to Termini (recommended for early start tomorrow) OR walk 10 mins to Metro Line A Lepanto station - for dinner nearby.
